there was some architecture in a perfectly clear sky - there was the
silver sunlight - there was the breeze - there was my skin - there
were the sounds of people with their machines - and there i was
crossing the street, slowly, feeling the collision of all these things
with a clarity so intense that its evaporation into the realm of memory
was a slight desire - and i walked into the shadow of a building as my
awareness of the moment grew - and i understood something for a
second
as the sensation began to quickly fade - then i remembered how to walk
nomally and where the nearest fax machine was.

ways to feel right at home

drunken dance party at your local coffee shop by night
drink coffee or tea at the bar of the same coffee shop the following morning (or afternoon, whenever you wake up)
new barista at coffee shop, just moved here from sydney, australia, who reminds you of ryan murray (just as cute, adventurous, and easygoing, but with a thick, sexy australian accent!...no offense ryan)
go to target for cheap household shopping (nothing like huge american corporations to make you feel like you never left home)

and...
some things in my head lately...
i have fallen in love with leonard cohen! never took the time to listen to his music or know much about him, but I have listened to what I have on my ipod recently and cant get enough, how can he sound so content and happy while singing about such sad things...lovely!
i get told every day from men on the street that i am beautiful! always catches me off guard. but what is so great about it is that they just want to let you know that! They are not trying to get your number or anything, just a sincere "hello, beautiful lady"! maybe it will go straight to my head and then i will just think I am the most beautiful person in the world! doubt it, dont think i would feel normal without my insecurities!
hangers at target are expensive! $2.99 for a 3 pack of cheap plastic hangers! ridiculous, i'll just keep my clothes on the floor for now
have to consider daylight savings time now! I have to figure out when to change my clocks, never had to worry about that before
still want a bike really bad!

apt pictures

our cute, tiny kitchen with no space for the fridge so it is in the closet in the hallway! our ironing board table which we dont have enough stuff to actually put on there to make it useful as a table! steven's room is actually the living room, and my room is huge! the bathroom is nice too, pretty big for a ny apt bathroom (no pics though sorry, steven is always in there!)

no fish in the percolator

happy to report
we are not yet out of sorts
our bodies are bustling
and out minds our hustling

and sadness is not the "river god" today... rowing in the desert
rather a memory housed and tucked away... by the new fridge location

our toes are not blue because of the cold (not yet here)
but because our shoes have gotten old (rain and good beer)

i need a bed

yesterday we got a free "instrument for pouring things" (as steven likes to call it) during our stoop sale rampage and an old ironing board we are going to use for a table for now cuz neither of us iron! steven found some stilts and brought them home (sorry to the guy below us!) this picture is for the tom cruisers out there...zebracorn! right outside our apt!! (yes, its stripes are made with tape)
